Jolteon Raid Guide: best Jolteon counters in Pokemon GO

Jolteon is a pure Electric type eeveelution, with the only hard counter being Ground types. Jolteon counters are strong Ground types like Groudon and Rhyperior, with other generalists performing equally well. Jolteon has a raid boss CP of 18988. It is the one of the hardest Tier III Raid bosses to date, along with the likes of Claydol and Ninetails, so tread lightly and put your best foot forward!

Jolteon has the following CPs when encountered in a post raid capture mini game:

  • 1574 – 1650 (100% IV, level 20, no weather boost)
  • 1967 – 2063 (100% IV, level 25, boosted by [rain] weather)

This page details Jolteon counters, raid counters, Jolteon solo strategy. With the coming of Lugia, it seems more bosses have come to occupy the raiding scene, namely the return of Jolteon. Jolteon was the hardest Tier 3 Raid boss when raids originally came out, and was thought impossible to solo. However trainers now have access to the powerful king of Ground types, Groudon. In clear weather Groudon can mop the floor with Jolteon, but how about in every other instance? Lets find out!

Jolteon raid Counters

As Jolteon is only weak to Ground type Pokemon clearly the best counter for it is Groudon. You should try to avoid attacking with Electric, Flying and Steel type attacks as they will be not very effective. Also avoid Water and Flying type Pokemon because Jolteon attacks will be super-effective against them. Dragon type Pokemon are also a great choice because they take reduced damage from Jolteon attacks.

Jolteon movesets

Jolteon has access to the following moves:

  • Volt Switch (Electric, fast)
  • Thunder Shock (Electric, fast)
  • Thunder (Electric, charged 1 bar)
  • Thunderbolt (Electric, charged 2 bar)
  • Discharge (Electric, charged 3 bars)

Jolteon has access to only Electric type moves that deal not very effective damage to Dragon, Grass, Electric and Ground type Pokemon.

Weather Influence

Jolteon is boosted by Rainy weather so you should try to avoid it, unless you want to catch boosted Jolteon at level 25.

It can be possible to solo Jolteon, both with and without weather boost, however it requires near max level high IV Pokémon to tackle it without any sort of weather boost.

Sunny is the best weather for a Jolteon solo, as it boosts the king, Groudon, to where even level 25 Groudon can manage a solo win.

During Cloudy weather it is recommended to use (apart from Groudon) Fighting type Pokemon like Breloom and Machamp with Counter and Dynamic Punch.

Fog weather will boost the power of your Dark and Ghost type moves so you should use Mewtwo and Gengar with Shadow Ball.
